On June 22nd, 2019 I will be participating in the 7th annual Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo. This is an 80 mile cycling event to raise funds to support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research at MSU. These dollars are funding pilot studies – investigative, next-step research that tests findings and enables a scientific study to continue. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research at MSU.
This is not only a fun way to raise money and awareness for a great cause, but it is also more personal for me.
Over a year ago, my Uncle Ken and I made plans that he would travel from his home in Missouri to participate in this event with me. I was very much looking forward to this ride because we were going to do it together. We both enjoyed cycling and anyone who knew him knows how much he loved MSU.
Unfortunately, Ken unexpectantly passed away from a massive heart attack last July. This was a shock to everyone because he was healthy man and still had a lot of life to live.
I intend to participate in this event not only for the wonderful cause it represents to the public, but for what it represents to me personally. For every mile of this race I will be thinking of my uncle and the wonderful man that he was.
I made a goal to raise $500 in honor of my uncle.
If you were a friend or family member to my uncle please feel free to donate or share this page with other friends and family.
If you did not know him and want to donate to a wonderful cause you are welcome to do that as well.
Thank you!
