I do not know anyone who has lost the fight to skin cancer but I know more people than I can count who have fought it or are still fighting it. Besides, I am a pasty-white person of Northern European descent with 3 pasty-white children of Northern European descent (2 red-heads, BTW). The fight against skin cancer touches me on both an emotional and a practical level.
I can be pretty militant about the use of sunblock, shade, hats and other protective measures for both my children and myself, but that does not mean we are immune to skin cancer. Far from it.
Michelle and I will be joining the Mary Free Bed team in the MSU GRan Fondo on June 27th, 2015. It's a bike ride to raise money for skin cancer research. If you feel the urge, there should probably be a Donate button around here somewhere. Take a look around.
