Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues –
On June 22th, 2019, I am riding 25 miles in the 7th Annual MSU Gran Fondo. This non-competitive cycling event supports the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine skin cancer awareness, prevention and research. Cyclists of all skill levels ride along scenic 12, 25, 40 or 80-mile routes from downtown Grand Rapids to the Lake Michigan Shoreline. In its SIXTH year, the MSU Gran Fondo has raised more than $810,000 in the fight against skin cancer.
I have been humbled by the outpouring of support I received from you during the past few years. Participating in this event for the past three years has been an amazing experience for me; I have had the great honor to hear how skin cancer has affected many of your lives.
Most of us have known people who have personally fought the battle against cancer. Through modern treatments and much grace, some have survived. Others have not. The MSU Gran Fondo is my opportunity to set the pace for skin cancer research and provide hope for the nearly 70,000 people in the U.S. who are expected to be diagnosed with melanomas of the skin this year.
This will be my fifth time riding in this event. I FONDO 4 - Greg Woolley (beloved friend who passed away in 2014). Together we can make a difference. My personal goal is to raise $1,500* for this great cause. I’ve made a commitment to make the MSU Gran Fondo much more than a ride. My hope is that you will join me in supporting a mission that is more than skin deep. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research at MSU.
Sincerely Yours,
Theresa Chartier
