My family has been deeply affected by cancer. Eleven years ago, my Dad and Grandmother passed away from cancer within a month of each other. Five years ago, my Grandfather succumb to the same terrible disease. Again, this year I will be riding the Gran Fondo in their memory for the seventh year in a row.
Most of us have known people who have personally fought the battle against cancer. Through modern treatments and much grace, some have survived. Others have not. The MSU Gran Fondo is my opportunity to get some skin in the game and provide hope for more than 3.5 million people in the U.S. expected to be diagnosed with skin cancer this year.
